What is the true shelf life of the drugs COUMADIN and LEVOTHYROXINE? and after the expiration date does the drugs COUMADIN and LEVOTHYROXINE become toxic or just decrease in strength? and if so what percentage of decrease per year. Thanks

Let's not forget the 'Canadian Pharmacy Option' here in getting back-up meds once you do get a prescription from your US doctor. I've done this for diabetes and blood pressure meds and it cut the cost in half from what I'd have had to pay in the US. Note: As I was advised by the Canadians and it did turnout, US Customs holds up your order for approximately one-month; not sure why. But don't wait till the last minute.

As an oral surgeon and the specialist that usually gets called into the ER in the middle of the night because of these infections, I will say you are right on the money with all above with the exception of "none of the above". The only reason dental infections sit dormant and don't seem to be causing worsening problems is when they set up a chronic and draining infection (usually into the mouth).

Biotene is a rinse marketed mainly to those people with salivary difficulties which predispose them to caries from the lack of saliva remineralizing their teeth ie. Post radiation patients or those that have had salivary gland removal because of pathology. It WILL NOT treat a dental infection. Reducing normal oral bacterial populations long term is usually not a good thing - that's when we see opportunistic fungal infections. Even Peridex one of the more solid oral antibiotic rinses loses its benefit after a few weeks of use.

I am getting more and more reports from client families of elderly patients of "strong recommendations/encouragement" to place loved ones on Hospice, or "just stop his blood pressure medications" and the like. I also have reports of Medicare refusing to pay for certain surgeries on patients over age 85, and hospital physicians "miscoding" a patient as in for "observation" (not formally admitted, so Medicare won't pay for rehab). From where I'm standing, this looks eerily like the dark underbelly of healthcare rationing under ObamaCare. I know from a surgeon friend that the hospitals have only so much money to work with, and are likely to reserve those funds for more "worthy of care" younger/middle aged clients. Is anyone else seeing similar situations in their practice?

I worked in the medical field and one day a patient came in with a newborn with a horribly swollen gum. She told me the baby was born in Denver and a pediatrician there was putting chips in children so they could be located if kidnapped. (Just like a lost pet.)
I wondered then, as now, if such a thing was real and how it would effect normal dental development.

I'd give some consideration to taking a first aid class, a CPR class and also look into taking an EMT course at the local community college (start with the Basic EMT and follow up with the advanced classes)

also getting a copy of Doc Cindy's book
as well as others such as Where There Is No Doctor
and Where There Is No Dentist will be of tremendous help
